
The technical team named the final squad that is dominated by players from Ghana title holders and league leaders Asante Kotoko who provide eight players. They include the central defensive pair of Kwabena Adusei and Abeiku Ainooson.
FA cup winners Medeama have three of their players roped in including their experienced goal minder Foli Adade who is set to man the Black Stars goal.
Coach Maxwell Konadu had to take up the hard decision of dropping four players from his squad because of the tough competition in the team as they are all vying for slots in Ghana’s world cup squad.
Ghana qualified for the 2014 Fifa World Cup scheduled for Brazil and Konadu will obviously want to include some of his home based players into the squad in order to get some experience.
The biggest inclusion in Ghana’s final squad include the impressive Kotoko striker Seidu Bancey who got a late call up to the team after missing the final of the GoTV WAFU Cup due to a nagging injury. He will be joined in the striking line by other top scorers in the Ghanaian league such as Sulley Mohammed and Samuel Afful.
The Ghanaians are currently holding camp in Namibia and they will do battle in Group C with Libya, Congo and Ethiopia.
The 16 nation tournament will kick off on January 11 and run for three weeks till 1 February.
