The 2016 Track and Field season is kicking into high gear as the world anticipates the Rio, Brazil Olympics in the not too distant future and as the world waits in anticipation of the Rio Games, meets organizers are putting forth matchups and headlining big name athletes at their events to whet Track and Field enthusiasts’ appetite of what’s to come.
It was Blessing’s first outdoor race of the season as well as her first competitive race in 2016 on the track. She was lined up against the likes of Michelle Ahye of Trinidad and Tobago and Ashleigh Nelson of Great Britain in the 200 meters which was the first race she chose to test the waters with after months of training.
It was just another day on the track for the experienced Star as she held her competition at bay with a convincing win into a headwind of (-0.3 m/s) leaving her competition behind as she stopped the clock with a time of 22.82 seconds.
After the race she admitted she would have like the time to have been better that the one she ran because according to the star “the race felt faster than that, but the time wasn’t just there”. She however admitted that she felt good even though the Track was not a fast one.
Blessing will continue her campaign next weekend when she competes at the Drake Relays in Iowa, a meet that will run parallel to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. Pennsylvania.
