Ghana’s CAF Champions League representative, Asante Kotoko have written to the African Football governing body, CAF seeking clarification over their Champions League preliminary match with Sierra Leone’s East End Lions.
The Ghanaian champions are seeking an official communication from CAF despite media reports from Sierra Leone confirming that East End Lions have withdrawn from the competition.
However, Kotoko 2015 Champions League campaign’s Secretary and Public Affairs manager, Kwaku Ahenkorah, tells supersport.com that the club cannot rely on media reports and are waiting for a confirmation from CAF.
The Ghanaian champions are seeking an official communication from CAF despite media reports from Sierra Leone confirming that East End Lions have withdrawn from the competition.
However, Kotoko 2015 Champions League campaign’s Secretary and Public Affairs manager, Kwaku Ahenkorah, tells supersport.com that the club cannot rely on media reports and are waiting for a confirmation from CAF.
“Asante Kotoko is not officially aware of East End Lions’ withdrawal from the Champions league. We’ve only heard media reports and have sought clarification from CAF. It will continue to be media reports until CAF communicates a response to us. As a result, we are still preparing towards our pending match with our Sierra Leonean counterparts,” he said.
The first leg of the preliminary round of the 2015 CAF Champions League is set for the weekend of February 13-15.
