MIES (Switzerland) - USA defend their spot atop the FIBA World Ranking Boys, presented by Nike, thanks to winning the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2023 and reaching the Semi-Finals of the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2023.

USA eased to their eighth consecutive undefeated U16 continental tournament in Merida, Mexico to qualify for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024.

David Morrell Demolishes Sena Agbeko in Two Rounds

David Morrell Jr. dismantled Sena Agbeko in the second round Saturday night at The Armory in Morrell’s adopted hometown of Minneapolis.

Morrell blasted Agbeko with a barrage of power punches that forced referee Mark Nelson to step between them to protect a vulnerable Agbeko. The official time of the stoppage was 1:43 of the second round.

Ghana striker Inaki Williams marked his 400th appearance for Athletic Club with a stellar performance in a 2-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Spanish La Liga on Saturday. 
The 28-year-old forward started the game and played 85 minutes, helping his team secure a crucial win at San Mames. Goals from Gorka Guruzeta and Nico Williams sealed the deal for Athletic Club, who moved up to eighth place in the league table.

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has received over 5,000 media accreditation applications for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 – 90% more than Cameroon 2021 edition.

The media accreditation process closed on 24 November 2023.  Over 70 nationalities have applied to cover Africa’s biggest event.

Athlete Samson Amare made history as the first male winner from outside Kenya in this event

ASMARA, Eritrea, December 16, 2023/ -- Eritrean athlete Samson Amare won the gold medal at the fifth Adnoc Abu Dhabi Marathon held today.
Samson finished with a time of 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 10 seconds, outpacing Kenya’s Leonard Barsoton and Turkey’s Ilham Ozbilan.

NEW YORK (Friday, December 15, 2023) – Major League Soccer announced today that at its recent Board of Governors meeting its clubs voted to have MLS NEXT Pro teams represent the organization in the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. MLS will coordinate with U.S. Soccer regarding participation in the tournament.
This decision will provide emerging professional players with additional opportunities for meaningful competition.  The move also benefits the MLS regular season by reducing schedule congestion, freeing up to six midweek match dates.
