Korea Republic 2017 venue package tickets go on sale

​Venue package tickets for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017 will be released for limited sale - 2,017 tickets per venue - on Tuesday 1 November.

The venue package ticket launches on the day on which the tournament marks 200 days to go, and this sales phase lasts until the end of the year. The package gives access to all group phase and Round of 16 matches in the selected venue along with a 30 per cent discounted price on individual tickets.

​The International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Coordination Commission concluded its first visit on Thursday to Lausanne, Switzerland – host city of the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2020.  The visit ended on a high note, with preparations deemed well under way after just over a year since the city was elected at the IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur in July 2015.
​

The Coordination Commission convened after two days of debriefing and workshops at the University of Lausanne held between the Lillehammer 2016 organisers and Lausanne 2020, including various levels of government, the Swiss NOC and public authorities from the Swiss and French hosts.

The protection of clean athletes and the fight against doping are top priorities for the International Olympic Committee (IOC), as outlined in Olympic Agenda 2020, the IOC’s strategic roadmap for the future of the Olympic Movement. To provide a level playing field for all clean athletes at the Olympic Games Rio 2016, the IOC put special measures in place, including targeted pre-tests and the re-analysis of stored samples from the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 and London 2012, following an intelligence-gathering process that started in August 2015.

​Kenya’s Harambee Starlets picked up a 1-0 win over Egypt in their penultimate 2016 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations preparatory match on Friday (28 October 2016) at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi. 

Corazon Adhiambo scored the lone goal in the first half as Kenya grabbed a confidence boosting win, coming less than a week after losing to Cameroon via the same score-line at the same venue.

Mark Korir won a three-way Kenyan contest and took the 35th edition of the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon with a time of 2:06:48. The 28 year-old beat fellow Kenyans Martin Kosgey and Cybrian Kotut who ran 2:07:22 and 2:07:28 respectively. Bobby Curtis of the USA took a surprise fourth place, equalling his personal best with 2:11:20 in ideal conditions.

Meyiwa, 27, was shot dead in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, on Sunday night while visiting his lover, Kelly Khumalo.

Leekens named as new Algeria coach

​Belgium's Georges Leekens was Thursday named as the new coach of Algeria, a post he briefly also held in 2003, the country's football federation announced.
   
The 67-year-old takes over from Serbia's Milovan Rajevac who was sacked earlier this month after only three months in charge following a 1-1 draw with Cameroon in a tough World Cup qualifying group also featuring Nigeria and Zambia.
