NEW YORK (September 28, 2016) – The MLS Disciplinary Committee has found Montreal Impact midfielder Hernán Bernardello guilty of embellishment in the 55th minute of Montreal’s match against the New York Red Bulls on September 24 (VIDEO). Bernardello has been issued an undisclosed fine for his actions.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has arrived in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, for the CAF Extraordinary General Assembly scheduled for Thursday, 29 September 2016.
He touched down on the morning of Wednesday, 28 September 2016 and was met on arrival by a CAF delegation led by its President, Issa Hayatou. The delegation included members of the CAF Executive Committee and officials of the Egyptian Football Association. ![]()
Econet Media has launched its 24 hour, free-to-air all-sport channel in Rwanda. This channel joins another recently launched one in Kenya as one of the fully owned Kwesé channels. Kwesé's premium sports programming is also available in a number of markets in sub-Saharan Africa including Ethiopia, Senegal, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, Seychelles, Congo DRC, Benin, Togo, Uganda, Ghana, Angola and Tanzania on affiliate channels. Tanzania People's Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo Club is finalising plans to construct the first ever golf course in the country's capital of Dodoma.
The move is the fifth phase government's idea to ensure all its institutions and ministries shift to Dodoma before the year 2020. Speaking in Dar es Salaam, the TPDF Lugalo Club chairman, Brigadier General Michael Luwongo said that Dodoma has been the top priority and they have already secured a 250-hectre land in Dodoma for the intended modern course. ![]()
Ghana has been selected to host the 2018 African Women’s Football Championship.
The announcement was made in Cairo, Egypt during an executive meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) meeting this week. Ghana will be represented by the Black Queens who are known to be the first team to qualify Ghana to the senior FIFA competition. ![]()
The ICC today announced the appointment of William Glenwright to the role of Head of Global Development. Glenwright joins the ICC from his current role at World Rugby as GM Asia and Oceania and will take up his post towards the end of the year.
Glenwright will lead cricket’s game and market development which has a focus on more competitive teams, more people playing and better cricket ‘systems in more member countries. He will also assume responsibility for growing the game in new territories, particularly USA and China. ![]()
Debswana Diamond Company has increased sponsorship of the Debswana International Open Chess Championships to P150,000 from P80,000 last year.

NEW YORK (Tuesday, September 27, 2016) – Houston Dynamo forward Mauro Manotas was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for the 29th week of the 2016 MLS season.
The 21-year-old scored a hat-trick to lead the Dynamo to an impressive 3-1 victory over the Portland Timbers at BBVA Compass Stadium on Saturday. The hat-trick was the first of Manotas' MLS career and the sixth in Dynamo franchise history. Manotas has four goals and one assist in his last six starts for Houston with the club compiling a 3-1-2 record in that time span (West #10, 32 points, 7-11-11 record). ![]()
