​Ghana Football Association (GFA) President has been elected to serve on the FIFA Executive Committee. He is one of the two to represent the African continent on the world body controlling football.

The two elected members are Almamy Kabele Camara (Guinea) and Kwesi Nyantakyi (Ghana). They will serve from 30/09/2016 to 16/03/2017. Kwesi Nyantakyi has thus completed his personal treble which he predicted.

29 September 2016 – Head coach of the South African u17 Men’s National Team, Amajimbos, Molefi Ntseki is confident his charges will do well at the BRICS u17 Football Cup which will be played from 5 – 15 October 2016 in Goa, India.
 
The South Africans have been invited to play in the inaugural tournament alongside Brazil, Russia, India and China.

​CAIRO, 29 Sep '16 -- SAFA's delegates (Danny Jordaan, Lucas Nhlapo and Dennis Mumble) today participated in an Extraordinary Congress convened by CAF to approve significant changes to its Statutes in line with the governance reforms approved by FIFA earlier this year at a FIFA Congress in Mexico.
 
Significant additional language to develop women's football to ensure the full participation of women in football governance was added to the revised CAF Statutes, marking a milestone in the empowerment of women in African football. African women now serve in the highest echelons of world football's governing body. Lydia Nsekera and Fatma Samoura rank among the top leaders in the world governing body and CAF has pledged to do more to empower women in football.

A large contingent of local media descended on FIFA's headquarters in Amman on 29 September 2016 for a press conference on the eve of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Jordan 2016. Once the fifth FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, to take place in three cities across Jordan, kicks off on Friday 30 September, local football followers will have the chance to revel in what is a truly exceptional event. The thrill of the occasion will be heightened by the fact that this is the first time that the Hashemite Kingdom, and indeed the Middle East, is staging a FIFA women's competition. 

​The CAF Extraordinary General Assembly took place on Thursday, 29 September 2016 in Cairo, Egypt with the election of two Africana onto the FIFA Executive Council and the approval of a proposal from the CAF Executive Committee for the modification of Statutes dominating the headlines.
 
Also getting the approval of the Congress that saw all 54 National Associations affiliated to CAF present, was the Rules governing the application of the statutes and Rules of the General Assembly of CAF.

​At the opening ceremony of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 this Friday, spectators will not only be keeping a close eye on the young players present, they will also be watching two people set to perform in front of the thousands at Amman International Stadium, but who will not be kicking a ball or taking to the pitch.

ZIMBABWE talismanic forward Knowledge Musona has received the backing of his club KV Oostende after he was sucked in a gambling storm in which he is alleged to have placed bets on some matches in the country’s league. The 26-year-old striker, whose goals helped the Warriors qualify for the 2016 Nations Cup finals after a 10-year absence from the continent’s biggest football showcase, was one of the players named in the gambling case in which about five players in the Belgian top-flight league placed bets on matches in that country.

MOGADISHU (FIBA AfroBasket 2017) - For the last two decades, Somalia has been engulfed in war resulting in millions of lives being lost, while an unstable economy has affected every aspect of life in the country.

​Last year, Niger hosted the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations but the Junior Menas fell like a pack of cards starting with a 2-0 loss to Nigeria in the tournament’s opening match and eventually failed to qualify for FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015.

This term, the Junior Menas under the guidance of Soumaila Tiemogo have been in excellent form and sensationally edged out defending world champions, the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria in their previous second round qualifier towards the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations slated for Madagascar.

The Online Sports Journalists Union (OSJU) has sent a success message to the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in his bid to be elected to serve on the FIFA Executive Body.

ALEXANDRIA (FIBA AfroBasket 2017/FIBA U19 World Championship 2017) - Two months after leading Spain to the title of the FIBA U20 European Championship, Juan Antonio Orenga is tackling the challenge of helping Egypt regain its basketball glory of old.

Sports marketing company, Infront Sports & Media has secured more than 230 hours of broadcast coverage across Sub-Saharan Africa following the recent distribution of rights for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The distribution effort was supported operationally by TV Media Sport (TVMS) and coverage was achieved in a total of 46 territories.

Protecting the integrity of sport at the Olympic Games is a top priority for the International Olympic Committee (IOC). A number of sound new measures were therefore put in place during the Olympic Games Rio 2016, both in the Olympic Village and behind-the-scenes.

These measures included a fully operational Joint Integrity Intelligence Unit (JIIU) implemented in collaboration with experts from the Rio 2016 Organising Committee, as well as a reinforced Integrity Betting Intelligence System (IBIS) and, for the first time, the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions was implemented.

​London Marathon Charitable Trust has announced its latest round of grants with more than £1.1million awarded towards the creation or renovation of 14 high quality, accessible and affordable facilities that will encourage and support participation in physical activity.
 
The awards include a grant of £150,000 to The Access to Sports Project towards tennis court improvements, the installation of floodlighting on six tennis courts and the development of a new pavilion building at Finsbury Park in Haringey to increase use of the site and make it more appealing to under-represented groups, particularly less active children and young people. The charity has a successful track record of providing a wide range of accessible and affordable sports activities to disadvantaged and disengaged young people in the London Boroughs of Hackney, Haringey and Islington.
