Lausanne, 26 August 2022 – The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed the appeal filed by Cardiff City Football Club (Cardiff City FC) against Football Club de Nantes (FC Nantes) in relation to the decision issued by the Bureau of the FIFA Players’ Status Committee on 25 September 2019 (the Challenged Decision). The Challenged Decision, in which Cardiff City FC was ordered to pay EUR 6 million to FC Nantes in connection with the transfer of the player Emiliano Sala between the clubs, is confirmed.

The FIFA Referees Committee officially announced the lists of the match officials who have been appointed to officiate at the forthcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022™. A total of 14 women referees, 28 women assistant referees, three support referees and 16 video match officials will take charge of the matches.

NEW YORK (Monday, August 29, 2022) – Philadelphia Union midfielder Dániel Gazdag was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Week presented by Continental Tire for the 27th week of the 2022 MLS season.

Gazdag scored his first career hat trick against the Colorado Rapids in Philadelphia’s second-consecutive 6-0 victory on Saturday, August 27 (Watch Highlights from His Performance Here ). Gazdag’s three goals marked the second consecutive match in which a Philadelphia player has scored a hat trick, joining Julián Carranza in Week 26. The last time a team had two different players score a hat trick in consecutive matches was LAFC’s Carlos Vela and Diego Rossi from March 30 – April 6, 2019. Gazdag became the sixth different player in club history to score a hat trick and he now has 16 goals on the season, which is tied with CJ Sapong (2017) for the most by a Union player in a single season. His 16 goals are tied for the second most in MLS and his 24 goal contributions are the third most behind Nashville SC’s Hany Mukhtar (27) and Austin FC’s Sebastián Driussi (26).

Ghana Swimming distances itself from disparaging Facebook post

The attention of the Ghana Swimming Association (GSA) has been drawn to a Facebook post by Ms Sara Asafu-Ajdaye, which seems to denigrate the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the wake of Ghana’s sterling performance at the just-ended 15th CANA Swimming Championship in Tunisia.
The Facebook post read: “A shame our Ministry of Youth & Sports didn’t see fit to sponsor Team Ghana, but big shout out to the passionate parents who raced around at the 11th hour soliciting donations from private companies to cover airfares etc, Ayekoo.”

The 2022 edition of the Millennium Marathon comes off this Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the Independence Square.
Two races are involved, 21 kilometres for elite athletes above 18 years and 5 kilometres race for the family and friends.
