Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, June 27, 2017 – Despite starting the second stage of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship in front of their home crowd, Egypt overpowered Czech Republic in 3 straight sets in Pool G.

Czech Republic traveled to Ceske Budejovice to fight for what’s left after their top eight elimination in this tournament. Their first match in Pool G did not go according to plan either.

SAN JUAN (Women’s Centrobasket Championship 2017) – The International Basketball Federation in the Americas announced that St. Thomas, in the Virgin Islands, will host the 2017 edition of the Women’s Centrobasket Championship, from July 12-16.

The tournament will feature the national teams from the Bahamas, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, and will be broadcasted live on FIBA’s official You Tube channel.

40 teams to compete for 2018 EuroCup Women glory

MUNICH, Germany (EuroCup Women 2017/18) - FIBA Europe has confirmed that 40 teams will compete in the 2017/18 EuroCup Women Regular Season.

As in previous seasons, the clubs will be divided into two even conferences of 20 teams each. In Conference 1, 18 of the teams are already confirmed. They will be joined by one team from the EuroLeague Women Qualifiers, as well as the winner of the EuroCup Women Conference 1 Qualifier.

NEW YORK -- Milwaukee Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon and Philadelphia 76ers forward Dario Saric have been unanimously selected to the 2016-17 NBA All-Rookie First Team, the NBA announced today. Both players received all 100 First Team votes from a global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.

Joining Brogdon and Saric on the First Team are 76ers center Joel Embiid (171 points, 82 First Team votes), Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield (154 points, 63 First Team votes) and New York Knicks center Willy Hernangomez (128 points, 44 First Team votes).

SportPesa Ends Sport Sponsorships

Sportspesa Kenya will withdraw all its affiliate sponsorships effective 1 January 2018.

The company's CEO Ronald Karauri says the move follows passing of the Betting, Lotteries and Gaming Amendment Act requiring all gaming companies to render 35 percent of their gross earnings to the government as corporate tax.

Karauri says complying with the government law would mean the company cannot sustain its sponsorship activities going forward.

Schalke kit up with Umbro

German soccer club FC Schalke 04 have confirmed a new five-year partnership with Umbro.

Starting in July 2018, the British sportswear brand will become the Bundesliga team’s official kit supplier, and will provide both Domenico Tedesco’s first team and all academy sides with playing kits and equipment until 2023.

According to German outlet Sponsors.de, the deal is worth an annual €6 million (US$6.7 million), earning the seven-time German champions €30 million (US$33.5 million) over the course of the contract. The agreement marks the end of Schalke’s long-standing partnership with German sportswear giant Adidas.
