
Forward Nshuti scored the first goal on 11 minutes with a cool header from Ombalenga’s cross.
Sugira doubled the lead on 31 minutes following a swift combination by left back Abouba Sibomana and Jean Claude Iranzi, before completing his brace a minute later.
Ombalenga scored his first international goal on 72 minutes finishing off an assist from Yannick Mukunzi before Mugiraneza scored the fifth minutes later after Muhadjir Hakizimana had put him through.
The host started strongly and pressing, and nearly broke the deadlock after 52 seconds, when Ombalenga crossed to Sugira, who failed to beat Mauritius goalie Jean Louis Kevin Obrian. The dominance saw them score three in the first half and adding two more after the break.
Ghana leads the pack with 10 points from four games, with Rwanda and Mauritius in that order on six points each. Mozambique sits at the depth of the standings with just a point.
“We are happy we won. We are looking forward to the next game against Mozambique. It is not the end and we are back into contention.
“We have to work harder than the previous matches,” said Rwanda captain Haruna Niyonzima.
