Windhoek, Namibia, February 11, 2015 - The African Dream Project was officially launched in Namibia on Wednesday with the Namibian Volleyball Federation (NVF) unveiling four different centres.
NVF president Joel Matheus visited the different centres to inspect the facilities needed to implement the project.
The centres are located in the major regional areas of the country. The towns and date of launch are:
- Rundu (Kavango Region) February 10, 2015
- Oshakati (Oshana Region) February 11, 2015
- Windhoek (Khomas Region) end of February
All opening ceremonies were attended by local dignitaries such as mayors, regional governors and government sports officers. Local media covered the events and the national television broadcaster was present at two of the sessions.
"The launch of this project has created a level of national awareness and visibility for volleyball that has been unthinkable in the recent past," NVF general secretary Gunter Rust said.
"This is exactly the kind of initiative that we needed to give our grassroots development and the kind of boost it needed."
