Johannesburg, South Africa – March 8th 2025 – The Africa Sports Ventures Group (ASVG) is pleased to announce that the 2025 Edition of the 50 Most Influential African Women in Sports Awards will now be revealed on July 31, 2025 – Pan-African Women’s Day rather than the previously scheduled March 8, International Women’s Day.
This change reflects ASVG’s commitment to celebrating and uplifting African women who are making a transformative impact in sports by aligning this recognition with Pan-African Women’s Day, a day dedicated to honoring the achievements of African women across all sectors.
The 2025 edition will be hosted as a Hybrid Event in Nairobi, Kenya, and is being organized in partnership with Women Sports Africa Network (WSAN), Gender Violence Recovery Center (GVRC), and other partners to be announced soon.
KEY DATES FOR THE 2025 EDITION:
Nominations for the 2025 Edition of the 50 Most Influential African Women in Sports will open on March 20, 2025, at the launch of the official program website. The public will be invited to submit names of outstanding women in African sports who are leading in administration, business, media, technology, and athletics.
This initiative aims to highlight the trailblazing women who are breaking barriers and shaping the future of sports in Africa, while also fostering mentorship, collaboration, and long-term impact within the sector.

- June 15, 2025: The Selection Committee finalizes and submits the 50 awardees to the Joint ASVG/WSAN Committee.
- July 31, 2025: Hybrid Awards Ceremony, featuring panel discussions, networking sessions, and a gala dinner to honor the winners in attendance.
