On February 27 FIFA and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) will officially start the 100-day countdown to the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™. The important milestone for the tournament will be marked in style with the unveiling of the Host City Posters of the nine Host Cities, showcasing the vibrant character and diversity of the venues selected to host the competition.
The event is open to everyone and will feature some special guests unveiling the Host City Posters via a game with FIFA Women’s World Cup™ Official Mascot ettie™. The game will challenge participants to score 100 goals- each goal marking every day remaining until the tournament kicks off- with ettie as goalie between a pair of digital goalposts.
Attending the various 100-Day Countdown events across France will be an impressive line-up of famous Frenchwomen and men: French Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu in Nice, Camille Abily, Marie-Sophie Obama, Frédéric Michalak and Olympique Lyonnais President Jean-Michel Aulas, in Lyon, Rémi Oudin in Reims, Grégory Pujol in Valenciennes and in Le Havre various sports personalities will team up with FIFA Women’s World Cup Volunteers to highlight the countdown.
In Paris, Brigitte Henriques, Deputy Vice-President of the French Football Federation and Vice-President of the LOC, will be joined by former French internationals Laure Boulleau, Marinette Pichon and Candice Prévost where the action will take place at the terrace of Forum des Halles (Floor -1) from 19:00 CET.
The nine Host City posters will be made available on the FIFA Media Channel following their unveiling. The Official Poster of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 will be released on 8 March – the day after individual tickets for the competition go on sale to the general public – to coincide with International Women’s Day.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ will kick off in Paris’ Parc des Princes on Friday 7 June at 21:00 local time and will see hosts France take on Korea Republic. From then until 7 July, women’s football fever is expected to spread throughout France as locals and visitors alike embrace this summer’s festival of football. Nine Host Cities: Grenoble, Le Havre, Lyon, Montpellier, Nice, Paris, Reims, Rennes and Valenciennes will host the world’s best 24 national teams as they battle it out for FIFA Women’s World Cup™ glory.
