CAF this weekend handed out a bevy of fines for disorderly behavior of both teams and spectators in recent African Nations Cup qualifiers and African club competitions. Bafana Bafana’s upcoming Nations Cup opponents Gambia were also fined Five thousand dollars (US$5 000) because fans threw missiles onto the pitch during their last qualifier at home in March when they drew with Mauritania in Group M.
Kenya received the greatest fine of Ten thousand dollars ( US$10 000) after rioting spectators halted their March qualifier in Nairobi against Guinea Bissau and police had to use tear gas to disperse an angry crowd.
