The sports awards season are upon us again as 2015 winds down and with no time to waste the Confederation of African Football in partnership with Award sponsor Globacom has released a list of nominees for the African Player of the year and as has been the case for the last 3 years International soccer icon Yaya Toure of the Ivory Coast heads the list alongside with German based Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon. Other notables on the list are Andre Ayew of Ghana who currently plays for Swansea City and Ahmed Musa of Nigeria who currently plies his trade for CSKA Moscow in Russia.
Significantly absent from the list are African Players who play on the American continent in leagues like the MLS of the USA. Of particular note are Kei Kamara of Sierra Leone who currently leads the MLS for its Golden Boots Awards for most Goals scored in the season and former Ivory Coast International Didier Drogba who has made waves in the MLS since he joined the Canadian outfit, the Montreal Impact.
On the Home Front Djigui Diarra of Stade Malien of Mali is amongst a list dominated by North African and South African players for Player of the Year based on the African Continent.
