A faction of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) named the Legitimate SLFA Interim Executive’ has welcomed the decision of Joseph Sepp Blatter to step down as President of the world’s governing body, FIFA.
Amidst the alarming corruption allegations in FIFA, the faction which is headed by Alhaji Unisa Alim ‘Awoko’ Sesay also urged a reformed FIFA to refrain from supporting, condoning and pampering administrations like the Isha Johansen SLFA administration, who despite numerous calls has failed to give account, both financially and governance wise, to its members.
Amidst the alarming corruption allegations in FIFA, the faction which is headed by Alhaji Unisa Alim ‘Awoko’ Sesay also urged a reformed FIFA to refrain from supporting, condoning and pampering administrations like the Isha Johansen SLFA administration, who despite numerous calls has failed to give account, both financially and governance wise, to its members.
“The SLFA believes that a reformed FIFA should do everything possible and within its power to discourage the conduction of rogue and unfair elections particularly at the national association levels as it did on the 3rd of August 2013 in the elections of Isha Johansen as president of the SLFA.”
Despite the fact that the group is yet to gain recognition from FIFA, the Awoko faction stated that they have issued out a release on the fact that the abortive congress of the SLFA held at Makeni on the 18th April, 2015 was rigged with corrupt practices including but not limited to the unlawful manipulation and falsification of delegates’ list all in a bid to deprive the Association of the leadership it desires and deserves.
