In a letter penned by the Secretary to the President; E.B. Osho Coker to the world’s governing body of Football (FIFA) and copied to the Minister of Sports of the country; Mr. Paul Kamara, the SLFA President; Madam Isha Johansen and Mr. Unisa Awoko Sesay; the leader of the aggrieved opposition of Stakeholders against the current SLFA Executive, the Letter reiterates the issue of the ongoing impasse and cites the lack of resolution which was attempted at a failed scheduled congress in Makeni, Sierra Leone back on April 17th 2015. It is against this situation that the President of Sierra Leone is seeking a common ground that he recognizes should involve FIFA to resolve the problem at hand and allow football activities to resume in the country without hindrance.
The situation between the SLFA and its membership has been very contentious and debilitating to the progress of the sport around the country. Amidst a host of problems facing the country including the outbreak of the terrible Ebola Virus which is yet to subside, people in the country have not been able to find an escape from the pain and trauma that has traversed the land especially with Football, save for foreign leagues like the EPL and the USA’s MLS. So it is imperative that a resolution to the problem within Football is resolved in order for progress to be made and people’s attention towards Sierra Leone Football, grabbed once again.
