
The one-day workshop held on Wednesday, 25 May 2016 in Cairo, Egypt, was organized on the heels of the draw of the group phase 24-hours earlier and had in attendance Team Managers, Team Doctors and Media Officers of the clubs involved at the group phase of the continental club championships.
It also provided a platform for Club officials to share ideas and experiences, exchange contacts and formulate of solutions to resolve expected glitches that will derail the organization of matches.
The Team Doctors were introduced to the collection of data, thus Pre-Competition Medical Assessment (PCMA) which includes Echocardiography, Physical Examination and Blood Test onto the CAF Content Management System (CAF CMS), prevention of sudden cardiac arrest on the field and the Use of defibrillator.
For the Media Officers, the were taken through the Registration and Importance of the CAF Media Channel, Accreditation System and Media Operations related to the organization of matches. There was also a presentation from Colin Gibson, Director of Media and Communications of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The participants hailed the one-day workshop with most describing it as an eye-opener in their various fields of duty.
“The workshop has been an eye opener. We discussed in depth topics related to the organization of matches and I’m convinced the experience will be put to good use at the group stage which begins in June,” said Patrick Akoto, Media Officer of Medeama from Ghana.
“I commend CAF on the organisation of such a refreshing workshop. The discussions were positive and we now have a better of understanding of Marketing and Media issues. It was also good to officials of the clubs we will be playing against to strike a contact ahead of our matches,” said Benoit You, Chief Executive of Ivorian side, ASEC Mimosas.
