Oscar Pistorius’ health is under question in the wake of his brief appearance in court on Monday.
SABC News reporter Chriselda Lewis tweeted on Monday morning that he was taken to hospital at the weekend. Pistorius family spokesperson Anneliese Burgess said she too was in the dark, after receiving numerous requests for information.
“I have asked the family for more information but at the moment I know nothing about him being in hospital. I am sure that getting back to me is not a priority at the moment for them [the Pistorius family],” Burgess said.
In a later response, Burgess said that the family would not comment as this was a “private matter”.
However, Correctional services confirmed that Pistorius had been in hospital over the weekend.
Pistorius now faces a minimum of 15 years after the Constitutional Court previously dismissed his application for leave to appeal his conviction.
“I have asked the family for more information but at the moment I know nothing about him being in hospital. I am sure that getting back to me is not a priority at the moment for them [the Pistorius family],” Burgess said.
