NEW YORK (June 7, 2016) – The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Octavio Rivero for one game and issued an undisclosed fine for the serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent in the 49th minute of Vancouver’s match against the Houston Dynamo on May 28 (VIDEO). Rivero will serve the suspension during Vancouver’s next match against New England Revolution on June 18.
In addition, the MLS Disciplinary Committee has found New York Red Bulls midfielder Dax McCarty in violation of league policy regarding hands to the face, head or neck of an opponent (VIDEO). McCarty has been fined an undisclosed amount for his actions in the 74th minute of New York’s match against Toronto FC on May 28.

Columbus Crew SC defender Conor Casey received a red card in the 77th minute of Crew SC’s match against Philadelphia Union on June 1 (VIDEO). Through the MLS Players Union, Casey submitted an appeal that was unanimously supported by the Independent Panel. As a result, Casey’s suspension and fine have been rescinded and he will be eligible to play in Crew SC’s next match against the Montreal Impact on June 18.
Finally, the MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Kendall Waston for one additional game and issued an undisclosed fine for violent conduct that endangered the safety of an opponent against the Portland Timbers on May 22 (VIDEO). Waston originally received a red card for the play and will now serve a suspension for a total of two games.
Through the MLS Players Union, Waston submitted an appeal, but the Committee’s decision was upheld.
