The former IAAF chief who is the first African to have held the office, had been under a cloud of suspicion for a while for various forms of corruption and it all came to the fore this fall after he was succeeded by British Middle distance legend Lord Sebastian Coe.
He is said to have been aided and abetted by his son Papa Massata Diack as his go between for many shady transactions among many of which is this ongoing Russian doping scandal.
The fate of Diack and his son and some of the Russian accomplices will be in the hands of not just the IAAF body and WADA but also Law enforcement agencies in France and Russia and possibly the Municipality of Monaco where the IAAF is headquartered.
