To be honest, I’m disappointed I lost out. As a champion, whenever you lose, you are always disappointed. Sometimes it is hard to take some things. And today was a difficult one. In every situation you have to be a man and take what comes.
Mbwana Aly Samatta (African Player of the Year – Based in Africa)
I feel great to have won such an important award. I’m proud of myself and my country. I can from a country (Tanzania) which is not among the big football nations in Africa. And to be crowned best player in Africa, it is such a great moment for me.
Robert Muteba Kidiaba (Second, African Player of the Year – Based in Africa)
It is a big achievement to be amongst the best players in Africa. I did not win though but I’m happy for my teammate (Mbwana Samatta) won the award. I’m very proud of him and he has done a great job for our team, TP Mazembe.

It is a great day and I’m very happy with the award. I’m happy to represent all the women football in Africa. I say a big ‘thank you’ to all who have supported me. Together, we have to work hard to raise the level of women’s football in Africa.
