
Madam Nsekera who is a supporter of Madam Johansen’s POWERPLAY dream for Africa women and girls will witness the Leone Stars match and also share time with her Sierra Leonean compatriot.
Born in 1967 in Burundi, she obtained a degree in Economics and Administrative Sciences at the University of Burundi (1992). The sport she practiced before becoming a sports administrator were Basketball and athletics (high jump). She was president of the Burundi Football Federation between 2004 and 2013.
In the male-dominated world of football, and the political minefield that is FIFA, Nsekera became the first woman to get elevated to such heights within FIFA in its 112-year history. Nsekera sits at the highest table of the organization controlling the world’s most popular sport.
She was one of the FIFA representatives at the medal presentations for women’s football at the Games of the Olympiad, Beijing 2008; Nominated by the Bujumbura Mayor as one of the 10 best women workers of 2008; Winner of the IOC Women and Sport Award (2009) among many other awards.
