Cairo giants Al Ahly has strengthened their record by winning the 2015-2016 Egyptian Premier League title for an unprecedented 38th time last Friday. An away win over Ismaily combined with arch rivals Zamalek's draw with El Masry guaranteed the Red Devils the title with two matches to spare.
Ahly raised their tally to 74 points, seven more than rivals Zamalek with only two games to go. The "Red Devils" returned to the podium after losing last year's trophy to none but their rivals in a similar scenario.

It's the 38th Premier League title for Ahly, compared with Zamalek's twelve. "I am delighted with this victory", Ahly chairman Mahmoud Taher told CAFonline.com after Friday's matches. "We worked hard to get back the League trophy to where it belongs. And tonight our work paid back in time", he added.
"Egypt has 90 million plus. 80 million of them support Ahly", coach Martin Jol told the reporters. The ex- Tottenham Hotspur manager joined Al Ahly in February, and has led them to the title. "I am here to make these millions happy. I even didn't see my grand daughter till now but what's more important is what I am watching now. Ahly supporters drained in thousands to the club headquarters in the Gezira suburb of Cairo late at the night to celebrate till first hours of the next morning.
"For these fans we can do anything", Ahly captain Hossam Ghaly told CAFonline.com. "We play for them and for the club, and we want to win everything. Now our focus shifts to the CAF Champions League", added Ghaly.
Ahly face ASEC Mimosas on Tuesday after conceding an away 302 defeat to Zambia's ZESCO United last Saturday. A win is inevitable if the Red Devils want to stay in contention.
"We have to cut short the celebrations and focus on ASEC game", Ahly football director Sayed Abdel Hafeez told CAFonline.com. "We will find some time later to celebrate but now we have two more titles to search for, CAF Champions League and Egypt Cup. It's our destiny to play for all the titles", he concluded.
