Brazzaville, Congo, January 9, 2015 - History was repeated itself in the African Men’s Olympic Qualification Tournament as the four continental giants Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia and Cameroon booked semifinal tickets to keep their dreams alive of earning the ticket to Rio 2016 Olympic Games after the third competition day at Henri Elende Hall on Saturday.
Egypt upset their arch rivals Tunisia 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-20) to lead Pool A with two victories. The losing side, however, already secured their semifinals seat earlier in the competition.
Meanwhile, Algeria finished their Pool B matches with a clean win-record after they pulled off their third victory over RD Congo 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-11), while Cameroon rebounded from the second day defeat against Algeria and joined the winning band by taking their second victory with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-20) win over Nigeria.
Egypt will now face second-ranked Pool B team Cameroon, while Algeria will play Tunisia in the semifinal matches on Monday, January 11. Congo Brazzaville will play RD Congo for fifth place.
