
Kigali, Rwanda, February 07: Democratic Republic of Congo emerged 2016 as champions of to win African Nations Championship (CHAN) for a second record time after outclassing Mali by 3-0 in a game that was played under pouring rains at Amahoro stadium in Kigali.
Their determination paid off when they had their noses in front through Elia 29th minute effort.
When both teams went for recess the Leopards were in the lead 1-0.
But in the second half the Mali Eagles came back storming into the Congolese half to draw level especially in the first ten minutes.
The Leopards organised themselves and it was in the 61st minute that Elia claimed a brace to put the game beyond the reach of the Eagles.
Finally in the 73rd minute Jonathan Bolingi hammered the last nail in the Eagles coffin to enable the Leopards claim the CHAN title for a record second time.
