NEW YORK (Tuesday, September 15, 2015) – Columbus Crew SC forward Kei Kamara was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 28 of the 2015 MLS season.
Kamara continued to state his case for MLS MVP, scoring both goals in Crew SC’s 2-1 road win over the Philadelphia Union at PPL Park on Saturday. The league leading goal scorer now has 20 goals this year, becoming only the 16th player in MLS history to hit that mark during the regular season. The multi-goal effort was his sixth on the year, two more than any other player in the league. The Sierra Leone international now claims three Player of the Week wins, tying him with Toronto FC’s Sebastian Giovinco, LA Galaxy’s Robbie Keane and New York Red Bulls’ Bradley Wright-Phillips for most nods this season.

In the 21st minute, the Golden Boot frontrunner put Columbus up 1-0 after heading home a failed clearance inside the area at the far post (watch goal). Kamara would then double the lead five minutes later, tapping in a wonderful ball across the face of goal from defender Harrison Afful (watch goal). Columbus Crew SC now sits third in the Eastern Conference with a total of 44 points, just one point shy of the New York Red Bulls and D.C. United.
