Chinese League One side, Dalian Yifang FC have completed the signing of Sierra Leone and AIK Solan striker, Mohamed ‘Poborsky’ Bangura on a three years deal worth over 10 million Swedish Krona (US$1,174,686.94).
The Swedish Allvenskan league side, AIK on Monday December 21st confirmed the player’s sale after posting a full story about the move on their website.
Bjorn Wesström, AIK sporting director who was pleased with the move due to its financial success said: “Mohamed is in many ways a historic player in AIK. He has contributed greatly both on and off the field, but also has the effect of being an income-generating footballer with the sales that AIK football has made; we wish him all the best in his next career step.”
This is the second big money move for the Sierra Leonean forward from AIK to another club; in 2010 he was sold to Scottish league champion Celtic for a fee of about 20 million Swedish Krona (US$ 2,349,225.92).
Bangura’s move to the China based club is another milestone for the striker as he becomes the first player in AIK's history that has brought in the most money to his club something the former FC Kallon forward himself felt very proud of.
He said: “AIK will always be the club in my heart and I'm very grateful that I had to come back after playing in another Premier Division club before. It has been a great season this year and I wish AIK luck in 2016. As I have been made to understand; I am the only player in AIK's history yet that has brought in the most money to the club and I feel very proud”, Bangura was quoted as saying on AIK's website.
Bangura first joined AIK from a lower division side Köping in 2010 for a fee about 700 000 (US$82,272). He quickly established himself as a class player in AIK, scoring 12 goals in 13 games played, and became the crowd favorite at the Rasunda football stadium which led the fans to compose the song "Bang, Bangura - Bang Bangura". The striker played a total of 93 competitive matches and 30 goals in AIK-shirt.
Dalian Yifang FC was formed in 2009 and plays in the Chinese second tier league. In 2015 they finished in third place in the table, two points off a promotion to the Chinese Super League.
