Amazayoni was sold to the Comitis brothers, John and George, who were previously the owners of Ajax Cape Town before selling their stake in the club three years ago due to a fall-out with current bosses, the Efstathious family.
The league rulings state that after a takeover, a relocation may only take place after one full season. John confirmed the sale, but could not give full details regarding the club’s new name or the possibility of relocating to Cape Town, where the Comitis family is based.
“All the other details like relocation and the name will be sorted out once I am back in Cape Town on Friday.”
Former joint-chairmen, Mario and George Morfou, have indicated that they hope the club remains in Mpumalanga, for the sake of their supporters.
“We would like to sincerely thank all the supporters of Mpumalanga for their valued support over the years. We have met many of you and can understand your grief and we are thinking of you,” part of the statement released by the Morfou family read on Monday.
