African sharpshooters were in top form across Europe with Algerian Riyad Mahrez scoring a crucial goal for English Premier League (EPL) leaders Leicester City.

Winger Mahrez gave the Foxes a 1-0 win at Watford, extending their lead over Tottenham Hotspur to five points with nine rounds left.

Senegalese Mame Biram Diouf and Diafra Sakho, Burkinabe Bertrand Traore and four-time African Footballer of the Year Yaya Toure from Ivory Coast were other EPL scorers.

ENGLAND

RIYAD MAHREZ (Leicester City)
Mahrez netted for the 15th time this season as Leicester won 1-0 at Watford to open up a five-point lead at the Premier League summit. Eleven minutes into the second half at Vicarage Road, the Algeria star gathered a headed clearance, shifted the ball to his left and bent a left-foot shot into the top-left corner from the edge of the box.

BERTRAND TRAORE (Chelsea)
Traore scored for the fourth time in five appearances as champions Chelsea drew 1-1 at home to Stoke City. The 20-year-old Burkina Faso international, preferred up front to both Loic Remy and Alexandre Pato, opened the scoring in the 39th minute, gathering a pass from Nemanja Matic, turning and neatly firing home from 20 yards.

MAME BIRAM DIOUF (Stoke City)
Senegalese striker Diouf earned Mark Hughes's side a share of the spoils with an 85th-minute equaliser at Stamford Bridge. The former Manchester United man headed home after Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois failed to get enough purchase on a punch from Xherdan Shaqiri's cross, ending a 15-game scoring drought.

DIAFRA SAKHO (West Ham United)
Sakho claimed an 81st-minute equaliser and set up the winning goal as high-flying West Ham stormed back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Everton. The Senegal international equalised with a well-placed header from Dimitri Payet's right-wing cross and then returned the favour in the 90th minute with a clever back-heel that allowed Payet to rattle in the winner.

YAYA TOURE (Manchester City)
Ivory Coast international Toure opened the scoring as City got their title challenge back on track with a breezy 4-0 win at home to Championship-bound bottom club Aston Villa. The former Barcelona player made the breakthrough in the 48th minute at the Etihad Stadium, sweeping home David Silva's pass for his second goal in three matches.

SPAIN

ALFRED N'DIAYE (Real Betis)
Senegal midfielder N'Diaye scored his first goal of the season with a fine header from Joaquin's corner five minutes from time to put 10-man Betis on route to a vital 2-0 win over Granada that moved them eight points clear of the relegation zone.

CARLOS KAMENI (Malaga)
Cameroonian goalkeeper Kameni could miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn meniscus in his right knee during his 300th La Liga game as Malaga and Deportivo la Coruna fought a thrilling 3-3 draw. Kameni was injured saving in a one-on-one with Lucas Perez and is expected to be sidelined for up to two months.

ITALY

MOHAMED SALAH (Roma)
The Egyptian winger is Roma's top scorer in all competitions with 12 this season and added two more as Roma trounced Fiorentina 4-1. He was on target in the 25th and 58th minutes and heavily involved in on-loan striker Stephan El Shaarawy's 22nd-minute opener at the Stadio Olimpico.

FRANCE

CHRISTIAN KOUAKOU (Caen)
The Ivorian chose a good moment to score his first Ligue 1 goal since moving to Caen from second-tier Tours in January. He came off the bench to net with an overhead kick in the 89th minute that gave the surprise European contenders a 2-2 draw with Monaco.

CHEICK DIABATE (Bordeaux)

The giant Malian striker won and then converted a first-half penalty for Bordeaux for his ninth goal since the winter break, but it was not enough to earn his side all three points as they drew 1-1 with Gazelec Ajaccio.

GERMANY

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG (Borussia Dortmund)
The Gabon striker went head-to-head with Robert Lewandowski, but neither hot-shot managed to score as it finished goalless between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in a top-of-the-table clash. "Auba" touched the ball 32 times and had four shots on goal, but was denied by Bayern's Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer as he failed to add to his 22 league goals, just one behind Lewandowski. The draw leaves Dortmund five points adrift of Bayern with nine rounds to go.
