Zambia's Mulenga Joins Ajax Cape Town

Lusaka, Zambia, August 8: Zambia international midfielder, Clifford Mulenga has joined South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Ajax Cape Town following a move from another PSL side Mpumalanga Black Aces.

The 27 year-old has expressed satisfaction with the lifeline the Cape Town based PSL side has thrown to him following his release from  Black Aces where he was last season.

Mulenga who has signed a yearlong with the new club also conceded in an interview with the club’s website that he was not in best of his form during his stay at Black Aces.

“It feels good signing for Ajax Cape Town; it wasn’t my best year last season playing for Black Aces and Ajax Cape Town has given me opportunity to prove myself again,” he said.

He said he is keen and looking forward to fit in the team well of his new club which he said has a lot of young players and vowed to give out his best there.

“Ajax Cape Town is a young team and I look forward to fitting in well here. I want to help them win games, score goals and win a trophy or two again,” he added.

The Zambian international reunites with coach Roger de Sa who gave him a PSL debut at Bidvest Wits in 2009 where he had a stint under his stewardship.

He promised to give his best for the sake of Coach de Sa brings whom he said brings the best out of him.

 “I’m definitely keen on playing for Coach Roger de Sa, he is a good coach, he has proved it over the years. He brings out the best in me and I look forward to working under him,” Mulenga declared.

Ajax boss, Ari Efstathion said   the acquisition of the experienced Zambian player will add a cutting edge to his youthful squad.

“We’ve been looking to sign an experienced player, and we believe we found the right player in Clifford Mulenga.

We are still looking to strengthen our team, hopping to add one or two more experienced players to our youthful squad,” he explained.
