NAPSA Stars striker Elson Mkandawire has been killed in collision with a truck in Kasumbalesa.
The 28-year-old signed for Stars for the 2015 season and had previously played for Konkola Blades, Zanaco and Kabwe Warriors in the Zambian Super League.
"It is an undeniable fact that wherever he went he made an indelible mark as one of the most revered forwards of his generation," said a Football Association of Zambia statement.
"His will power on the pitch made him a fans favourite and is one that the Zambian footballing fraternity will well and truly miss."
