ST. PETERSBURG, FL, USA – The Women's Tennis Association today announced its plans for two key positions within the WTA's leadership with the hiring of Steve Tseng as the newly created Head of Global Sponsorship Sales, and the recruitment of a CEO for Asia-Pacific.

“I am excited for the strategic investment we are making in our senior management team. These two positions are vital for the continued growth and development of the WTA as we look to capitalize on the momentum we are seeing in women's tennis," said Stacey Allaster, WTA Chairman and CEO. "Steve brings an impeccable track record of generating new sponsorship opportunities across sports and entertainment. And along with the recruitment of our CEO of APAC, we are investing in dedicated resource in crucial business areas to drive future growth."

Tseng joins the WTA following 20 years at IMG, most recently as Senior Vice President of IMG’s US Business Development team, where he oversaw IMG Consulting for the West Coast and managed the agency's San Francisco office. Based out of the WTA’s corporate headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida, Tseng will report directly to Allaster, and is set to begin in his new role on August 1.

During his time at IMG, Tseng successfully worked across all of the company’s business groups including golf, tennis, fashion, college, media and licensing.  In addition to generating new business for IMG, he provided strategic sports and entertainment consulting for major global brands and has developed numerous marketing platforms for clients and governing bodies such as FIFA, USOC, IOC, NBA, MLB and NCAA.

Over the past three years the WTA has signed six new sponsors, and with the appointment of Tseng the WTA is positioned for continued sponsorship success under the leadership of a seasoned sales executive.

With a record number of WTA events in Asia-Pacific (23) and the launch of the Championships in Singapore, all scheduled for 2014, the WTA continues to execute its strategy in Asia-Pacific that is providing growth opportunities throughout Southeast Asia and the region overall.  The WTA is actively recruiting candidates for the region's CEO, which is led by  Sports Recruitment International whom is headquartered in London. Reporting to Stacey Allaster, the CEO of Asia Pacific will develop the strategic plan for the region and lead the WTA’s commercial activities across APAC to capitalize on business growth opportunities and develop the WTA’s Asian fan base.  Additionally the CEO of APAC will work closely with existing partners in China (China Open, Beijing Municipal Sports Bureau) and the WTA’s new Singapore partners (Singapore Tourism Board, Singapore Sports Council and World Sport Group) to optimize the WTA's brand development, create and generate new revenue streams for its members, and provide oversight of the WTA Championships with the goal of staging the best Championships in the event’s history.

Additionally, the WTA announced that Rory Renwick will join the sponsorship sales group as Senior Director of Business Development for  EMEA. Rory will be based out of the WTA’s London office beginning August 8. Renwick has an extensive sales background, most recently as Head of Sponsorship (Asia) for Phar Partnerships in Singapore, where he represented a number of brands and rights holders within travel, sports and entertainment. Prior to this, Renwick served as the Head of New Business for the Parallel Media Group in London, Hong Kong and Seoul.
