
The former circuit will continue to host a leg of the global motor racing series for the next four seasons, while the latter will remain on the calendar for at least a further five years.
Spain’s Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has staged World Rallycross, which is organised by IMG Motorsport, since 2015. The race is promoted by Barcelona-based sports and events marketing agency SevenMila.
James Taylor, the vice president of rallycross at IMG, said the Catalan event has “consistently grown in stature, raising the bar with its first-class facilities, exciting on-track challenge and engaging off-track diversions”.
Next year’s provisional FIA World Rallycross Championship will feature 11 rounds, beginning in Abu Dhabi in early April. The Spanish event is due to take place later that month, with the Swedish stop scheduled for its traditional slot in July.
As revealed this week, Portugal's Montalegre circuit has been dropped from the calendar, which remains subject to approval by the FIA's World Motor Sport Council.
