“The Wilson Official FIBA 3x3 Game Ball has been an integral part of the tremendous growth of 3x3 basketball on the international stage and we are proud to continue our partnership in view of 3x3 entering the Summer Olympics as an official discipline for the first time in 2020 and beyond,” said FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis.
3x3 basketball, the largest urban team sport in the world, has gone from FIBA’s first official event all the way to the Olympics in just 10 years. FIBA 3x3 has a multi-million community of followers on social media and an even bigger one playing on indoor and outdoor courts in iconic locations all over the world.
The Wilson Official FIBA 3x3 Game Ball, a collaboration between the Wilson LABS, the innovation hub at Wilson, and FIBA 3x3, reflects the speed of 3x3 and enhances shooting, ball handling and grip for players of any size or skill level.
The Wilson Official FIBA 3x3 Game Ball offers improved handling for competitive players, which include men and women, teens and adults. The ball is suited to the quick pace and fast scoring action of the sport, and the heavier weight helps with shooting, especially in windy conditions outdoors.
The Wilson Official FIBA 3x3 Game Ball also features patented Wave Triple Threat Technology for superior control. This patented technology places 24 additional channels, or grooves, on the ball which gives player more grip points to better control the ball, regardless of the type of court or court conditions. Additionally, the ball showcases a vibrant FIBA 3x3 graphic design in bold blue and yellow to reflect the sun and sky -- the outdoor conditions in which 3x3 is traditionally played. The partnership will offer a special edition ball designed for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the coming months.
