The concept mooted by Larry Opare Otoo’s Primeval Media and F & B Media Groups is to search for the finest 22 footballers Ghana has produced.
Fiifi Banson one of the organisers said it had not been easy to come by 55 stars out of which 22 will be chose.
Alhaji Jawula who was born eight years before Ghana attained independence said he has seen much of Ghana Football and searching for the best players had been a difficult task, noting that the committee looked at commitment to the Black Stars especially and slightly looked at discipline.
He expressed that the moblisation for Ghana’s future is on and urged all Ghanaians to join in the selection of the Finest 22. He engaged the committee to choose the best for Ghana for honours in July this year.
Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) endorsed the concept and urged the organisers to consider other disciplines that Ghanaians have exceled like boxing and athletics.
The Deputy Minister of Youth & Sport Hon. Pious said Ghana must honour its heroes to encourage the rising young talents.
He hinted that very soon the Cape Coast Sports Stadium will take new look with Nostalgia Sports Tourism where a Walk Way for Sports Heroes is going to be constructed and opened on 29th July, 2017.
The general public has been invited to participate in the selection for the Finest 22 by texting the name of the star to 1458 on all telecom networks in Ghana.
