The event will feature four groups of four teams. The Senegalese capital of Dakar will host two groups, while Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, will host the other two. The group stage phase will run from the 8th-10th September.
The participating teams are: Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Guinea, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia and Uganda.
Tunisia also staged the 2015 edition of the AfroBasket, which takes place every two years. Nigeria claimed its first AfroBasket title two years ago with a 74-65 victory over Angola in the final.
