Lemponye Tshireletso bagged a brace as Botswana defeated Guinea-Bissau 2-0 in 2015 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this weekend. The 29-year-old midfielder from Mochudi Centre Chiefs struck twice within ten minutes during the first half at the National Stadium in Gaborone.

Tshireletso scored from close range on 28 minutes and doubled his tally with a volley from outside the box in a third round, first leg qualifier. England-born Botswana coach Peter Butler was delighted with the result as the 'Zebras' triumphed again after a narrow second-round win over Burundi.

"I was thrilled with the boys - they were superb and did Botswana proud," said the 47-year-old former West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion midfielder. "The team is constantly improving and developing into a force the country will be proud of. We did waste a few scoring chances, but it was important not concede a goal at home," Butler said looking ahead to the 2 August return match.

Guinea-Bissau coach Paulo Torres said six of his squad could not travel to the diamond-rich southern Africa country because of visa problems. "They will be available for the second leg and the backing of our supporters can spur us to glory," he told reporters in the Botswana capital. Guinea-Bissau upset the Central African Republic in the previous round.

Uganda clicked in the second half and defeated Mauritania 2-0 at the Nelson Mandela Stadium near Kampala. Midfielder Brian Majwega, introduced at half-time by Serb coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic, broke the deadlock two minutes into the second half.

South Africa-based striker Geoffrey Massa added a second just before the hour mark for a team held goalless by Malawi in a warm-up game. Majwega punished hesitant Mauritanian defending to finish off a Denis Nguma cross and outstanding left-back Godfrey Walusimbi set up Massa. Mauritania were eliminated in the second round, then reinstated because opponents Equatorial Guinea used ineligible Cameroon-born Thierry Fidjeu.

Sierra Leone shrugged off match-fixing allegations to defeat the Seychelles 2-0 in Freetown. Khalifa Jaddie put the 'Leone Stars' ahead on 56 minutes and Alhassan Bangura converted a penalty.

The seven third-round winners qualify for the group stage and Morocco will host the 17 January - 8 February tournament.
