The Austrian Triathlon Association ÖTRV confirmed that a record-setting number of racers are expected to participate in the upcoming European Triathlon Championships. 841 Age Group athletes (562 men, 269 women) from 24 countries signed up for the event. This is the largest number on record for Age Group Olympic Distance European Championships.
Europe’s next crop of talented triathletes also gets a chance to show their wares: 116 junior athletes will test their mettle and compete for the championship title in Kitzbühel.
Another exciting –and already sold-out – event on the race calendar is the European Paratriathlon Championship scheduled for Friday. The highly competitive race gives athletes with disabilities an opportunity to excel and pursue their dream in sports. Austria’s successful paratriathlon team has strong hopes for medals in this year’s European Championships.
The Kitzbühel Triathlon Association is delighted about the huge response they got for this year’s KitzTriGames, a triathlon race for TriStars (14 years and under) and Youths (15 and 16 years). Due to the great number of race applicants, the Triathlon Association increased the number of athletes who could participate by 100 to give a total of 400 young athletes a chance to test their strength in an exciting race setting. The sold out race takes place Thursday June 15, 2017.
