NEW YORK (Thursday, December 21, 2017) – Three players were selected during Stage 2 of the 2017 MLS Re-Entry Draft on Thursday, with the LA Galaxy choosing midfielder Servando Carrasco with the top pick. The New York Red Bulls followed with the selection of winger Gonzalo Verón, and the Los Angeles Football Club picked midfielder Calum Mallace to cap off the draft.
Carrasco, 29, completed his seventh MLS season and his third with Orlando City SC this past year, recording a goal in 15 games in 2017. Verón, a 27-year-old Argentine, had a productive third campaign with the New York Red Bulls in 2017, recording six goals and three assists in only 777 minutes. Scotland native Mallace spent six years with the Montreal Impact and was traded to Seattle Sounders FC this past season.
