With so much on the line in their second Group B Stage Match, the Super Falcons of Nigeria came to play not only for themselves but to redeem the rest of Africa at the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup down under in Australia/New Zealand after the dismal performances of the Copper Queens of Zambia and the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco, and play they did as they grittily came out victorious against the Matildas (Nickname of the Australian Women's National Soccer Team) with a convincing 3-2 score to keep their hopes alive in advancing to the round of 16.
The Super Falcons now sit at the top of Group B awaiting a much-anticipated match against the Republic of Ireland who are at the bottom of the group but cannot be underestimated.
As stated above that match will be a factor in deciding if Nigeria moves on to the Round of 16 alongside the outcome of the match between Canada and Australia.
