
On Saturday, the team were officially welcomed at the Athletes Village flag raising ceremony were there will be based for the next couple of weeks in Glasgow.
A total of 17 sporting disciplines will be contested during the competition which gets underway on Thursday right through to the 3rd of August. Team South Africa will compete in just 15 of these ranging from aquatics to wrestling.
The previous Commonwealth Games were held in New Delhi, India and Team South Africa managed to walk away with a total of 33 medals to end joint fifth on the medals table with 12 gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze medals.
The South Africans are expected to get medal hauls in swimming, athletics, gymnastics, netball and sevens rugby.
