The event which comes off at the Banquet Hall of the State House has HE President Nana Akufo Addo as the Special Guest of Honour, with other international sports personalities passing through.
Weightlifting was also one of the disciplines that Ghana qualified on merit to participate at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Through the influence of Ben Nunoo Mensah, the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) has its own training center and secretariat at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The GWF has also been suspected to be credible, hence received sponsorship from corporate Ghana.
The Federation has excellent media relations with most sports journalists working in various key positions for the Federation.
Ben Nunoo Mensah who became double president after defeating Prof. Francis Dodoo in a keenly contested GOC election revealed the Renaissance Agenda to revamp Ghana Sport.
His nomination as Sports Association President of the Year is on merit as he deserved and has topped up with the GOC presidency.
He is also an executive member of the African Weightlifting Federation (AWF) and hopes to bring sports development to Ghana.
Last week, he welcomed the Director of OlympAfrica, Monsieur Alassane Diack to Ghana to inspect a site for an international standard community sports complex specially for kids between the ages of 5 years to 15 years at Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region.
Nunoo Mensah is optimistic the project will see light as other executives and members of the GOC are in favour of development of more sports projects.
Christian Amoah, a weightlifter will also be honoured for winning a gold medal at the International World Weightlifting/Commonwealth in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He also represented Ghana at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
