The Sierra Leone Football Association’s (SLFA) and its stakeholders will finally stage their extraordinary congress on March 24th 2017 with the aim to resolve the long-standing dispute within the football family.
Today’s congress is expected to be chaired by the Deputy Minister of Sports, Al Sankoh Conteh with the support of his Minister, Ahmed Khanou.
The Sports ministry was given the responsibility by the President of Sierra Leone and FIFA to settle the impasse that has engulfed the development of football in the country and the President last December’s request gave the Minister a three months ultimatum to end the long standing impasse in football.
It has been a tough, and rugged journey within the country’s football family which saw the setting up of a seven-man committee that was established by both local and international football authorities to identify the genuine football delegates and after several months they completed their assignment and presented their report to President Koroma on Monday 27th February 2017, at his State House office in Freetown.
Over 45 delegates are expected to be part of the congress in Freetown.
