Sierra Leone national team, Leone Stars were one of the best movers in the latest world football governing body, FIFA, monthly ranking moving 30 places to sit 83rd from 113 on the global stage.
Andorra sits at the top of the best movers log with 177 points moving 57 places from 186 to 129 while Sierra Leone followed with 106 points which saw them move 30 places to sit at 83 from 113. Burundi were the other best mover after gaining 83 points to progress from 148th to 121st.
Leone Stars now sits above the likes of Kenya, Guinea-Bissau, Congo, Libya and Norway respectively. The country also made progress in the Africa ranking moving 14 places up from 31st to 17th.
Sierra Leone’s Coach, John Keister was pleased to hear about his side’s progress in the ranking and told African Sports Media Network: “It is a great move, good news for us and the lads. We must maintain and ensure steady progress.”
This is the second time the country has made such a massive progress in the FIFA log, in September 2011, the country moved upward to 60th place with a 302 point gain then.
Meanwhile, Egypt remained Africa's highest-ranked side while West African powerhouse, Nigeria and Ghana both dropped one place each. Senegal sits second and remain 27th on the World stage just a place ahead of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
