In what has been an incredible start to an MLS career, Lodeiro recorded two goals and six assists in five matches in August, breathing life into a stagnant Seattle attack. The Uruguayan international led Sounders FC to a 3-1-1 record during the month, moving Seattle within four points of a playoff position (West #8, 31 points, 9-13-4 record).
The former Boca Juniors player continued his fine form with one goal and one assist in Seattle’s 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake on August 14. Lodeiro scored the first goal of his MLS career with a stunning left-footed strike in the box for a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute (Watch Goal), and assisted on a Jordan Morris header in the 37th minute (Watch Assist).
In his first taste of Cascadia Cup rivalry, Lodeiro once again contributed with an assist in Seattle’s dominant 3-1 victory over the Portland Timbers on August 21 (Watch Assist).
The two-time World Cup participant amazed in a 1-1 draw against Houston Dynamo on August 24, where the 27-year-old scored his second MLS goal, this time with a left-footed strike at the death to salvage a crucial point for Sounders FC (Watch Goal). The draw extended Seattle’s unbeaten streak to five matches.
In a second matchup against Portland, Lodeiro brought Seattle’s offense to life with two assists in a 4-2 defeat on August 28. Lodeiro notched his first helper in the 47th minute with a simple dish off pass to Andreas Ivanschitz (Watch Assist), followed by an assist on a Morris header five minutes later (Watch Assist).
