One of Sierra Leone’s renowned Sports journalists, Sahr Morris Jr. of African Sports Media Network last Saturday September 30th, 2017 was awarded the Sierra Leone Association of Journalist (SLAJ) Best Sports Reporter Award for the 2017 at a ceremony held at the University of Makeni (UNIMAK) Hall in Makeni.
As a committed, hardworking and passionate reporter, Morris thanked the almighty God for seeing him scoop another senior national award adding that it always feels good to be recognized for the outstanding job he does throughout the year.
“The feelings are always good when you achieve something for your handwork. Thanks to God, my family, workmates, friends and those who have supported me and continue to support me in diverse ways. Let me dedicate this to the Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Association especially the 2016 Olympic Games debutant and the country flag bearer, Bunturabie Jalloh and her family for the time they gave me while doing my work,” Morris said adding that he is now setting sight on an international award.
This was Morris Jr. 5th Media award after winning the Independent Media Commission Sports Reporting awards in 2012 as well as, the inaugural National Youth Excellence Awards for Media in the same year. The Youth Excellence Awards was organized by Ms. Vickie Remoe, a business development executive at Vickie Remoe & Co and Managing Editor at SwitSalone. The award was to recognize the efforts of young Sierra Leoneans making a difference in their country amongst their peers.
