Ethiopia coach Johannes Sahle has set sights on victory in their Group J Day Two Africa Cup of Nations Gabon 2017 qualifier against Seychelles away on Saturday, 5 September 2015 in Victoria.

The Walias arrived at the Seychelles International Airport on Wednesday, 2 September 2015 for their away tie against the Islanders in the journey for a place at the final tournament in Gabon in two years.

The 26-member delegation arrived via a chartered on a chartered flight and Sahle, who took over the reins of the 1962 African champions last April, made clear his intention to cafonline.com.

“We are here to win and this is absolutely our objective so we will do what is necessary to come out victorious,” he said.

Sahle added that he knows the Seychelles team quite well and what to expect after visiting the island four months ago with Ethiopian side, Dedebit for a preliminary round clash of the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup. The Ethiopians won the first leg in Praslin 3-2 before completing a double with 2-0 in Addis Ababa.

The Ethiopian trainer also remarked that there have been some developments in the squad he inherited and claims that his team’s preparation has been positive despite suffering a 3-1 loss to Rwanda last weekend in a friendly in Addis Ababa.

“This (the match against Rwanda) was a friendly match where I did not use my foreign- based players. I feel this team which is a mixture of young players and experienced campaigners can do the job required of them,” he added.

The former Dedebit trainer revealed he has reinforced his squad for this fixture and have called up Turkey-based defender, Walid Atta, who plays for Genclerbirligi, amongst five foreign-based players.

“We are looking forward to this match and we have got to go for a win at ‘all cost’,” explained Sahle.

The good news for the Ethiopians is the expected backing of 400 fans, who will be making this trip to the Indian Ocean Island, courtesy sponsorship from brewery giants, Walia Beer and Sahle believes it will serve a further boost for his team’s quest for victory.

“The large group of supporters will absolutely be good for the team as it will serve as motivation for the players,” concluded Sahle.

The Group J match will kick off at 16H30 local time (12H30 GMT), at the Stade Linite, Victoria.
