South Africa will on Friday celebrate the success of its athletes when the nation comes together in Sandton, Johannesburg.
The government has asked South Africans to proudly wear the national team colors today, as the athletes take to the streets and ride on an open bus to meet and greet their fellow South Africans. The main celebrations will take place at Mandela Square in Sandton in the afternoon, where the event will be broadcast on national television.
Team South Africa clinched 13 Gold, 10 Silver and 17 Bronze medals in Glasgow recently. It achieved 7th place in the overall standings and was the best performing African country.
