First day of the programme dubbed “S2S Tkd campaign” was successfully held at the St Bernadette Soubirous School in Dansoman.
Over 70 Children made up of 39 boys and 31 girls took part with the whole school including teachers and parents watching in admiration.
The World Taekwondo Peace Corps (WTPC) together with the Technical Director, Stephen Amegashie taught the beneficiaries the basic kicking techniques and courtesy.
The WTPC before the introduction did some demonstrated to the large audience.
Albert Nii Adotey Cofie, the Head Teacher said he was impressed with the demonstations and hope to form a Taekwondo club in the school to support Ghana produce more players so that there would be a larg pool to get people to win laurels for Ghana at international tournaments.
Mr. Fred Lartey, president of the GTF said Taekwondo is not a dangerous sport, but rather makes people disciplined and urged parents to allow their children to engage in sports to be fit physically and mentally.
Olla Williams of Dreamland Sports Plus said there are plans for exchange programmes in Korea after more events and competitions have been organized to get good players.
The Team will be at the St Martin de Poress at Dansoman, on Thursday, January 17 at 2pm and then back to St Bernadette School on Friday, January 18 at 1pm. Ave Maria for the final session on Friday for Accra West schools, and then move to Adenta and Spintex area.
